This past weekend at Echo Mountain the Scion Traffic Jam helped kick off the season with a bang. Over 65 competitors made it out to enjoy the new features, free monster and plenty of blue sky and sunshine. The contest started out with an hour and a half jam session giving everyone the chance to throw down and get all their tricks on lock in a bid to make the finals.

After the first 90 minutes the finalists were narrowed down to the top 23 skiers, riders and groms. Then it was time to throw down or sit down as each competitor had 2 runs to put together their best run. In the end, after all the bangers and slams, the judges had the tough job of picking the top competitors. For the grom snowboarders Chris Corning took first and Jacob “Chicken” Neville took crowd favorite. For the ladies Steph Meyers took 1st in women ski and Emily Blewitt took 1st in women snowboard. For the men’s ski Paul Pierce took 3rd, Jeremy Brown 2nd and Aidan Sheehan 1st. In the men’s snowboard Lakota Sage took 3rd, Nick Larson 2nd and Nick Brewer 1st.
Yesterday was opening day at Echo Mountain and we got some pretty awesome local and national media coverage out of it. This photo just hit the front page of Colorado Ski Country’s website.

Steel, lexan or wood Nick Brewer throws down on it all in this week’s EV2 section update. Note the style with ease.
